Sandi Gold is an award-winning artist who received her BFA from
Boston University College of Visual Arts and, following study
in Aix-En-Provence, France received a Certificat
D’etude from the The Leo Marchutz School of Painting.
Since that time she has been featured in The New York Times, People
Magazine and The Boston Globe among others and has been interviewed
on both the Connecticut and National Public Radio discussing her
artwork. Sandi has also been profiled on ABC’s TV news show
20/20 after erasing her sixty-three foot mural titled “The
Temple of The Soul” to illustrate her appreciation for life
and to inspire others to appreciate theirs after doctors diagnosed
her with an inoperable brain tumor and told her she had less than
a year to live. Having outlived these predictions by over two
decades, Sandi’s artwork demonstrates a depth and understanding,
“a falling in love with life: It’s not the length
of time we live, but the depth of our appreciation for our lives
that helps us to live more fully.”
Sandi has successfully completed the Professional Training and
Certification Program at The Institute for the Expressive Arts
at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI., studied with Stewart
Cubley, author of Life, Paint and Passion, Aviva Gold,
author of Painting From The Source, Barbara Ganim, author
of Art and Healing, Using Expressive Arts To Heal
Your Soul, Sue Fox and Barbara Ganim, who wrote Visual
Journeying, Going Deeper Than Words To Give Voice To Your Soul,
and Michael Samuels, MD., the leading pioneer in bringing art
into hospitals in the U.S. Sandi is also certified as a Holistic
Health Instructor. Wanting to teach others what she has learned,
Sandi has taught "Art and Healing" classes for hospitals
and clinics and has been asked to be a keynote speaker both nationally
and internationally demonstrating how art helps to heal and improve
our lives and to live more fully.
After learning about the devastation left by Katrina and the
grief of a child who had lost his pet, Sandi donated to a fundraiser
for animal victims of Katrina and began painting portraits of
people's pets. See Commissions page.
"Adopt-a-Pet-Portrait" grew from this as a way of helping
animals all across the United States. Any animal rescue or welfare
organization that wants information about or wants to participate
in Sandi Gold’s “Adopt-A-Pet Program” at no
cost to them, may email a request along with their website’s
address to:sandi@sandigold.com.
See “Adopt-A- Pet-Portrait”

Sandi has been honored by having been given a Citation from The
Rhode Island House of Representatives as well as a Senate Citation
in recognition for “her valuable contributions to the Town
of Westerly through her art work.” Because of her desire
to bring more art into her community and enable her fellow artists
to have a place to display their art, Sandi Gold co-founded The
Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, Inc. which has
had a new show and an opening every month since 1992. This gallery
was a major influence prompting state legislators to provide sales
tax exemptions for art sold in downtown Westerly.
