Classes:

Sandi teaches a combined Oil painting and pastel class. Students have the choice of working in either oil or pastel or learning both mediums once they feel comfortable working in one.

Classes are every six weeks and meet on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:30 in Sandi's studio in Stonington, CT. For more information email Sandi at sandi@sandigold.com or call 401.348.9571.

Sandi is a certified Expressive Art facilitator and teaches Expressive Art classes in both Stonington and Westerly. Email Sandi at sandi@sandigold.com if you are interested specifying a time that works best for you. Once there are enough people who have expressed an interest, a class will be scheduled. Sandi is also available to see people on a one-on-one basis.

#2, #4, #6 Buy the best quality brushes you can afford. For example: Robert Simmons Also you will need a very small round brush for signing your work.
Turpenoid (This brand is important to buy because it is odorless. It comes in a blue and white can.) Comes in pint or quart or gallon.
A small jar (to put your Turpenoid in - The glass jar that baby food comes in works well.)
Palette knife (wood and metal) Buy the kind that is bent in the middle.
Canvas (Fredix is best although Jerry's/AWS brand is fine) 11 x 14, 12 x 16 or 16 x 20
Large pad of Palette Paper (Fits perfectly into a large blue and white palette holder.) If you prefer a wooden palette, then by all means buy one.
Optional: Large Blue and White plastic palette holder (Your palette fits in this and your paints stay fresher longer. And it makes it far easier to pack and carry your palette)
Pencil and pad* (11 x 14”ish) which is all you need for the first day of class.
Paper towels or cotton rags (for wiping your brush)
And please feel free to bring spring water to drink to class if you want to!

You need only bring the materials marked with an* to the first day of class. You can save money on art materials on EBay (pastels), going to Jerry's in Providence or ordering online. Saving money takes time so you must plan ahead.

Materials list for Sandi Gold’s Pastel Class:
1. A kneaded eraser*
2. Pastels: I use and recommend the brand Rembrandt. A box of 90 although costly, is a good place to start. (Half sticks are fine to start with if you want to save money and not make a large investment in materials.) The more you have, the easier it is for you to work. 3.Foam Core: to be used as a backing board for 1/2 a sheet of Canson paper.
4. 1” Masking Tape
5. Vine charcoal (medium)
6. # 8 Flat Bristle Brush (for erasing)
7. Paper: Canson Mi-tienes. Middle-toned colors: Gray or Blue (not too light and not too dark.)
8) (Lotion –free) Baby wipes (for cleaning your hands).
9) Pad of white paper* (nothing fancy – simply for sketching before doing your painting)
10) Pencil* (sharpened)

You need only bring the materials marked with an* to the first day of class. You can save money on art materials on EBay (pastels), going to Jerry's in Providence or ordering online. Saving money takes time so you must plan ahead.
