After being diagnosed
with an
inoperable brain tumor and told she had less than
a year to live (in 1986), artist Sandi Gold painted and then
erased a 63 foot mural titled "The Temple of the Soul."
Why spend three months creating art and then erase it? "As
an artist I needed to express what I learned after having
stared death smack in the face. Living with what felt like
a "time-bomb" in my head, I learned what my priorities
are and the benefits to be gained when I honored my Inner
Guide. Dying is not the scary part; wasting our life is. Allowing
ourselves to be distracted, unconscious and ignoring our true
selves is really more frightening than dying. In other words
it is not the length of time we live that is important but
what we do while we are living. Our lives are really shaped
bythe depth of our appreciation and |
how we choose to see things." Sandi has been in The New York
Times, The Boston Globe, People Magazine, The Associated Press,
has spoken on Connecticut and National Public Radio and has
appeared on . ABC's news show 20/20. |
